CHINESE SECOND COOK
Job purpose
The Chinese Second Cook supports the Executive Chinese Chef and Chinese Sous Chef in the preparation and production of authentic Chinese cuisine, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. This role is responsible for preparing and executing menu items with precision, contributing to guest satisfaction and overall profitability. As guest satisfaction is closely tied to the visual appeal, taste, and overall dining experience, the Chinese Second Cook plays a key role in delivering exceptional culinary standards. Duties include the daily preparation of food items across various kitchen stations, such as the pantry and fry sections.
Duties and responsibilities
Ensure Compliance to Rules and Regulations
- Ensures compliance with all NagaWorld’s standards or relevant industry standards during all aspects of work
- Ensures adherence to NagaWorld’s Code of Conduct, Internal Rules, and Regulations at all times
General Job Functions
- Prepares food items and follows standardized recipes and production sheets accurately
- Ensures food quality, taste, and presentation meet established standards by tasting and evaluating dishes before service
- Operates kitchen equipment safely and correctly while maintaining proper portioning and garnishing of dishes
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the workstation in accordance with the cleaning schedule and food safety guidelines
- Adheres to all safe food handling practices and ensures food served is consistently safe for consumption
- Communicates effectively and collaborates with the Executive Chinese Chef, administrative team, and co-workers
- Assists in various kitchen stations, including pantry and fry sections, based on operational needs
- Supports the overall kitchen operation by maintaining consistency, efficiency, and quality across all tasks
- Performs additional duties in other areas of the operation when required to support team performance and guest satisfaction
- Any other tasks assigned
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent education required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a Chinese fine dining restaurant
- Preferably currently based in Cambodia
- Mandarin Language proficiency and English Language proficiency is a plus
Working conditions
This position may require extended working hours and may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
