Job purpose

To develop and implement sales strategies which maximise the contribution from key MICE, and Corporate accounts and achieve the overall targets in all segments. To drive the hotel revenue by penetrating the market place, securing and increasing the productivity of existing accounts and securing new accounts to deliver over our fair market share.

Duties and responsibilities

Monitor and Oversee Financial Management of the Department

  • Assists with strategic/business plan development, updating and monitoring;
  • Assists to ensure development of annual budget and cost management, within the context of MICE and Sales.

Manage the Staff

  • Assists to ensure appropriate staffing consistent with needs and within the constraints of the organization’s physical and financial resources;
  • Assists to recruit, select, orient and develop staff to meet standard performance;
  • Assists to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the Business Development Operation’s work plan; assigns projects and programmatic responsibilities; reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems.

Develop, Plan and Deliver Programs and Services

  • Actively promotes the products, services and facilities of NagaWorld’s properties to all customers and guests;
  • Manages a portfolio of Corporate Accounts. These accounts segment or industry will be specified to you by the Director of Business Development, Hotel Sales;
  • Constructs your account plans in conjunction with your Director of Business Development. These plans will detail your overall objectives, timescales and sales methods to support the defined account strategy;
  • Maintains accurate and up to date customer records in MASTER-LISTS;
  • Achieves sales targets by account, identifying trends and sales opportunities;
  • Develops productive, “Customer Focused” working relationships with clients;
  • Develops business from the corporate and MICE sector, as designated by the Director of Business Development making a minimum amount of face-to-face appointments each week;
  • Sources business from designated area of responsibility via telephone calls, emails and general follow up;
  • Initiates co-ordinate and conducts site inspections and familiarization trips from the designated market place. A minimum of 4 tours of inspection per week across the properties. This may require you to work evenings and weekends;
  • Develops business from designated special areas in assigned corporate companies;
  • Achieves set targets of sales calls and revenue generation as defined in the sales plans;
  • Attends trade shows and exhibitions as required;
  • Analyses competitors’ activities and pricing strategy;
  • Analyses trends of business by allocated market segment, co-ordinates all activities to maintain and increase revenue through added business volume and increased rate;
  • Analyses performance of existing customers and monitors production and profitability;
  • Maintains contacts with key decision through sales calls, telephone contact and written communication;
  • Monitors and improve sales accounts productivity;
  • Agrees, clarifies and implements Best Practice selling methods and procedures at all levels in the team to ensure business objectives are met;
  • Communicates regularly and on time verbally and non-verbally, providing individual team members with prompt and specific feedback on performance;
  • Creates an atmosphere which motivates and encourages team member to perform to the best of their ability, minimizing conflict where it occurs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration Management, Hotel Management or hospitality or equivalent education required;
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience related to the job with at least 2 years holding executive/supervisory role;
  • Solid experience in hospitality industry is preferred;
  • Possess good attitude and willing to accept changes or challenges, and patience to think of solutions to problem;
  • Possess good interpersonal skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PPT, Word and Outlook;
  • English Language proficiency and Mandarin Language proficiency is a plus.

Working conditions

This position may require extended working hours and may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
