Job purpose

To develop and implement sales strategies which maximize the contribution from key MICE, and Corporate accounts and achieve the overall targets in all segments. To drive the hotel revenue by penetrating the market place, securing and increasing the productivity of existing accounts and securing new accounts to deliver over our fair market share.

Duties and responsibilities

Ensure Compliance to Rules and Regulations

  • Ensures compliance with all NagaWorld standards or relevant industry standards during all aspects of work;
  • Ensures all employees adhere to NagaWorld’s Code of Conduct, Internal Rules and Regulations at all times.

General Job Functions

  • Implements all sales action plans related to his/her market areas as outlined in the marketing plan;
  • Attends major travel functions (i.e. trade shows and promotional events) that deal specifically with his/her market areas and advise ADOBD / DOS with findings;
  • Conducts daily sales calls and arrange familiarization/site inspection trips to hotels by clients;
  • Plans sales trip, under the direct approval of ADOBD / DOS, to major markets, calling on accounts within his/her specific market areas. Reports to ADOBD / DOS on potential markets needing coverage and provides suggestions;
  • Disseminates sales related information to other departments as appropriate;
  • Participates in weekly sales & marketing meeting to share ideas or feedback on business improvement;
  • Attends all pre-conference meetings, as required, arranged by the events department;
  • Attends all post-conference meetings, as required, arranged by the events department and assists in the preparation of post-conference reports;
  • Aggressively sources for new business opportunity within the assigned industries through daily sales visit to volume corporate account by conducting a minimum of 20 sales calls a week;
  • Maintains a high level of exposure for the hotel in major market areas through direct sales solicitation, telephone, fax, telex contacts written communication;
  • Actively participates in achieving the departmental goals which contribute to budget;
  • Closely monitors accounts revenue and business production;
  • Provides feed-back on market trends and keep updated with client relationships and overall business goals through close communication with ADOBB / DOS;
  • Maximizes up-selling opportunities whenever possible;
  • Handles inquiries for re-booking of business and new leads;
  • Closely communicates with ADOBD / DOS regarding the progress of the negotiation process;
  • Conducts site inspections for potential clients;
  • Proposing the best deal when handling leads / inquiries (pricing strategy, special requirements) in order to convert the leads / inquiries to confirmed events;
  • Prepares proposals / contracts for leads / inquiries;
  • Follows through from negotiation until departure for events assigned;
  • Liaises with clients on finalizing details and gives professional advice and planning of events;
  • Ensures effective communication with clients and internal departments;
  • Establishes and maintains updated account history on Visual One / files on major active accounts within his/her market areas;
  • Maintains comprehensive tracing system;
  • Closely follows up with all business leads, assigned project or duties and advise ADOBD / DOS with job progress;
  • Be punctual at work;
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication channel;
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Maintains the highest standards of professionalism and attitude towards all hotel guests, clients, staff and employees;
  • Develops and maintains close working relationship with all departments throughout the hotel;
  • Informs concerned departments important VIP/group arrival well in advance;
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skill to maximize hotel profit in all revenue producing areas;
  • Provides training and development to Executives & Coordinators for future growth opportunity;
  • Good knowledge of computer (office) software and operates office equipment skillfully;
  • As the hotel is into full multitasking, you may be required to transfer from one section to another in the same division as deemed necessary by your Department/ Division Head.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor ‘s degree or equivalent education required;
  • At least 3 years work experience related to the job;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PPT, Word and Outlook;
  • English language proficiency and Mandarin language proficiency is a plus;
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines;
  • Possess good attitude and willing to accept changes or challenges, and patience to think of solutions to problem;
  • Possess good interpersonal skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests;
  • Good communication skills to liaise with other managers and clients;
  • A knowledge of how each department in a hotel affects the business.

Working conditions

This position may require extended working hours and may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
